- Shan -

The Shan pony, which is also sometimes known as the Burmese pony, was bred by the hill tribes of the Shan states in eastern Burma from descendants of the Mongolian pony. It is a slightly rangy, hardy, sure-footed pony that sports upright shoulders. It has an unpredictable and uncooperative temperament, and it comes in most solid colors. They tend to stand at about 14.1 hh.
