The Austrian Warmblood was developed
in Austria, hence its breed name. Not much is known about the breed,
but it has an established herdbook and came from a cross of the
Trakehner, Hanoverian, and Oldenburg. They can be black, bay, dark
chestnut, chestnut, and gray. They are mainly used as sport or hobby
horses, and are known for their pulling power, handling ease, speed,
and adaptability at dressage, jumping, and military. There are a
calculated eight hundred of these horses left in the world.
