The Belgian Warmblood,
developed especially for competitive and performance purposes, is
a relatively new breed. Belgium has frequently been associated with
the production of the heavy draft horses such as the Brabant, but
since the development of the Belgian Warmblood in the 1950's, Belgium
produces approximately 5,000 Belgian Warmblood foals every year
and is recognized as a country of importance in the production of
quality competition horses. Due to their versatility, athleticism,
and superb performance, Belgian Warmbloods have become popular all
over Europe and America.
