The Calabrese is an Italian
breed of horse which has developed over the past two thousand years,
originally in Calabria in southern Spain, hence its name. The Calabrese
horse stands between 15.3 and 16.2 hands high and can be grey, bay,
chestnut, brown or black in color. They have refined heads and a
straight or somewhat convex profile. The Calabrese is used as a
general purpose riding horse, being of a calm and manageable nature
with an energetic, active manner about it.
